The Ministry of Women and Child Development in India has launched a nationwide initiative focused on early childhood care and education (ECCE). This initiative includes a new curriculum for children aged three to six and a framework for children from birth to three years old. The curriculum aims to cover various developmental domains over 36 weeks, emphasizing play-based learning and a mix of activities. The framework focuses on empowering caregivers and AnganwadiWorkers to provide early stimulation, incorporating principles such as responsive caregiving and inclusion for children with disabilities. The Ministry's existing support programs, serving over 8 crore children under six, are also part of this initiative. Overall, the goal is to enhance the ECCE landscape in India, recognizing the critical role of early childhood in development. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to providing equitable access to quality early childhood care and education, recognizing its significance in shaping the nation's future.
