In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Uttar Pradesh State Board of High School and Intermediate Education will implement major changes for classes 9 and 10 from the 2025-26 academic session. Class 9 students will face exams in ten subjects instead of six, with the mandatory three-language formula, including Hindi and two other languages from a list of options. Mathematics, Science, and Social Science will remain compulsory, while students must also choose one subject from a range of practical disciplines and one from Art Education. Physical and Health Education will encompass various activities, and Vocational Education will offer 31 subjects. The board has requested feedback by June 29 for phased implementation across more than 27,000 schools. The total marks for high school will increase to 1,000, with each subject carrying 100 marks. A new grading system and revised question paper format will also be introduced.
