Dr. Belenso T. Yimchunger, a Naga scientist and son of a retired electrician, significantly contributed to ISRO's Pushpak reusable launch vehicle. Despite not studying science in high school, Yimchunger pursued his passion for innovation from a young age. He developed several technologies, including the Pungro Power Soil, which converts soil into electricity, and the TIGER voice-activated light control system. An alumnus of the National Institute of Technology in Nagaland, he played a key role in the development of ISRO’s Reusable Launch Vehicle – Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD), which aims to reduce space mission costs. Yimchunger's story, marked by resilience and creativity, inspires young Nagas to pursue science and technology. His contributions have been acknowledged by ISRO and have earned him national acclaim.
