In response to alleged malpractice during the NEET-UG exam in Godhra, Gujarat, on May 5, 2024, the CBI has launched an investigation following a complaint filed by local police. The case involves accusations that 27 candidates paid large sums, amounting to Rs 10 lakh each, to ensure their success in the exam. Five individuals, including a school principal, teacher, and others linked to an education consultant, have been arrested. Evidence submitted to the CBI includes phone records, financial transactions totaling Rs 2.3 crore, and digital recordings suggesting collusion to manipulate exam results. The state government swiftly transferred the case to CBI jurisdiction within 24 hours of the initial complaint.
