IIT Goa will establish a new campus in Rivona, South Goa, as confirmed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. The central government's site selection committee approved the location, contingent upon the state ensuring connectivity and amenities like roads, power, and water supply. Changes in land zoning and relaxation of Floor Area Ratio requirements are also necessary. The revenue department is verifying land title documents. This site was chosen after other locations faced local opposition. The new campus is expected to create job opportunities and maintain environmental safeguards to protect the green cover around the site.
