SCHOOL SAFETY MEASURES: INVESTIGATE SAFETY PROTOCOLS AND MEASURES IMPLEMENTED IN SCHOOLS
“Moral and spiritual learning should go hand in hand with academic instruction.”
A part of childhood is about falling down and learning to pick yourself up. At SJBHS, we believe that children should feel safe and supported, and we work hard to ensure this both in the classrooms and on the field. Here are some school safety measures which we have adopted:
At drop-off time in the morning, dedicated teachers monitor students alighting from buses and cars, and also walking in. We are in a busy commercial area, and there is no slacking on traffic safety.
We draw parents as volunteers to manage the traffic outside the school gates during peak hours. All the gates leading out of the school are manned by security personnel, and when they are not there, the gate is locked and not allowed to be used.
The Physical Education teachers ensure safety on the field, not only when playing sports, but also during break times. The heated swimming pool is always guarded and monitored, as is the Children’s Park.
We have 380 cameras that have been installed and are constantly monitored by the management. There are over 40 fire extinguishers placed at pivotal points in the school.
Toilets in Primary school have lady attendants at all times.
Besides school safety, we are also concerned about the children’s mental well-being. The school has appointed several Counsellors and Special Educators dedicated to help the students to find the solutions or to confide in them.
