The CBSE is deliberating on scheduling biannual board exams, as the new National Curriculum Framework suggested. Options include January-February, March-April, and June. A semester system with biannual exams is also considered but needs more support. Currently, CBSE conducts board exams for Classes 10 and 12 from February to March. No final decision has been made, pending ongoing consultations. Challenges include the academic calendar, competitive exam schedules, and geographical constraints. The proposal for biannual exams, initially planned for 2024-25, has been deferred by a year. The new NCF, aligned with the NEP 2020, suggests a semester system and optional biannual exams. Past attempts at exam reforms, like CCE and pandemic-induced changes, were ultimately reverted.
