In a significant update for students across Maharashtra, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has announced the dates for the Class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) board examinations for the academic year 2024-25. The board has decided to conduct these exams earlier than usual, a move aimed at streamlining the academic process and reducing student stress.
Maharashtra Class 12 Board Exam 2025
For students in Class 12, which includes both Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and Higher Secondary Vocational Course exams, the written exams are scheduled to take place from Tuesday, February 11, 2025, to Tuesday, March 18, 2025. This marks a notable advancement in the exam timeline compared to previous years. The practical, oral, and internal assessments for these students will be conducted from Friday, January 24, 2025, to Monday, February 10, 2025.
This adjustment aligns with the board’s new strategy to facilitate a more efficient academic cycle and provide students with ample preparation time for entrance exams and subsequent academic pursuits.
Maharashtra Class 10 Board Exam 2025
For Class 10 students, the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams are scheduled from Friday, February 21, 2025, to Monday, March 17, 2025. Practical and internal assessments for these students will be conducted from Monday, February 3, 2025, to Thursday, February 20, 2025. This earlier schedule is expected to help students by providing more time for preparation and reducing last-minute stress.
Reason Behind the Early Exam Schedule
The decision to advance the examination schedule represents a significant shift from the traditional timeline. Typically, HSC exams begin in the third week of February, while SSC exams commence in the first week of March. The board usually releases results by late May or early June. This year, however, the MSBSHSE aims to expedite this process.
“The board has advanced the exam schedule to ensure a smoother admission process for the next academic year, provide students with ample time to prepare for entrance exams, and expedite the supplementary exams and results for students needing retakes or grade improvements,” explained Sharad Gosavi, Chairman of the MSBSHSE. This proactive approach is designed to accommodate the academic and preparation needs of students, helping them manage their time more effectively.
Anuradha Oak, Secretary of the state board, emphasized the benefits of this schedule adjustment. “To help reduce student stress, the board has released the exam dates well in advance. Detailed subject schedules for practical tests, oral exams, internal assessments, and written exams will be announced separately on the Board's website,” Oak stated. This advance notice is intended to provide students with clear expectations and ample preparation time.

The MSBSHSE’s decision to advance the examination schedule reflects its commitment to improving the examination process and supporting students through a more manageable and less stressful academic year.
