Sports Day Highlights  October 14, 2023:

With a bright day, a sports-ready field, and a hundred and thirty-two years of sporting talent as inspiration, the staff and students of Wynberg-Allen kickstarted the Meet. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Rajesh Sharma, D.I.G (Training), Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force Academy, Mussoorie. Following the introduction of the Guest of Honour, the spectators witnessed the brilliant march past by the students. A broad spectrum of events began with the hurdles, inched towards the 100m races, and included exciting moments like the Obstacle Races for the Grade 7 students, offering nail-biting and seat-gripping moments during the 800m races and the relay races. Javelin throw, discus, long jump, high jump, and triple jump events continued simultaneously, and the day drew to a close with the prize distribution.

Trophies named after sports legends of Olympic stature, Elizabeth Davenport and Mike Harrison, were awarded to Olivia Mary Raj and Arihant. Sheen Yunas and Aashman Goel were the ‘Fastest Sprinters’ of the Meet, and, of course, there were cakes for the tug of war, march past, cheering, and rosettes. Can any event be more exciting than a day celebrating every facet of sports? Allen House won the Sports Trophy with a total of 978 points.

Spectacular and solemn is the watchword for the event, and it concluded, as it does every year, with the Last Post, the lowering of the flags, marking the end of yet another successful Sports Day.
