Long leaves won’t be granted in universities, says new order by UP govt – Education News
The UP government has issued a new order to state universities directing teaching and non-teaching staff to no more avail long leaves till March 31, 2023.
Only maternity leaves have been exempted from this. Teachers and employees’ unions have expressed their displeasure over this decision of UP government.
The order issued by Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education, Monika S Garg has become a matter of discussion among universities and employees. In the mandate, it has been said that leave should be cancelled in the name of regular session.
The order added that a condolence meeting would be held at 3 pm on the death of only teachers and employees working in universities and that colleges and classes will continue as usual till 3 pm.
Significantly, it has been said in the mandate that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the teaching work was affected last year, due to which the academic session became irregular.
In order to regularize the session, the winter vacation in universities and colleges can be cancelled till the session becomes normal in the interest of the students.
