Tamil Nadu seeks approval from MCI for adding 800 more MBBS seats – Education News
Tamil Nadu Health Minister M Subramanian said that the TN government has sought Medical Council of India’s approval to add 800 more MBBS seats this year. He said that the MCI had already granted permission to admit 850 more MBBS students in seven of the 11 new medical colleges in Tamil Nadu. The state is targeting for 1650 total MBBS seats in these new colleges.
Subramanian said that the healthcare scheme to bring treatment to people’s doorsteps — ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam’ had benefitted 25 lakh people.
The target had now been increased to one crore under the scheme this year, he said, adding that the state government had worked on improving the primary health centre buildings in the state. Earlier, the Tamil Nadu health minister had held a meeting with Collector Dr. Arun Thamburaj on the Covid-19 situation in the district
