One English medium school to be opened in each ward of SDMC – Education News
South Delhi Municipal Corporation has improved the quality of education in its schools despite the reduction of budget allocation for education by 24 to 26 percent. The primary education in Delhi is handled by the 3 municipal corporations, namely, North Delhi Municipal Corporation, South Delhi Municipal Corporation, and the East Delhi Municipal Corporation. A total of 104 wards fall under the jurisdiction of SDMC. In a new initiative by the SDMC, they have decided to establish English Medium Schools in all the 104 wards that fall under its jurisdiction.
The Mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation, Mukesh Suryan, said that in view of improving services related to the schools, one English Medium School will be opened in each ward of the SDMC. He further informed that 12 new schools will be inaugurated soon.
Remarking on the recent developments undertaken by the SDMC, Nitika Sharma, the Chairman of the Education Committee said that SDMC has been providing quality education among nearly 3 lakh students enrolled in 568 schools run by the Civic Agency.
She further informed that science clubs have been started in 200 schools this year, while smart classrooms have been constructed in 468 schools. Further to ensure the continuation of online education, SDMC, in association with the NGOs, has been distributing tablets to students.
