Odisha schools to reopen for Classes 1 to 5 from Jan 3 – Education News
Amidst the Omicron scare, the Odisha government announced the resumption of physical mode classes in primary schools across the state which have been shut for the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Offline classes for the students of Classes 1 to 5 would resume in Odisha from January 3, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said. He said that as per the directions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the government has decided to resume the physical mode of teaching in about 27,000 schools in the state.
However, in schools where the summative exam for Class 10 students has been scheduled, the physical classes will resume from January 10, 2022. In those schools, the Matric Summative Assessment-I is scheduled to be held between January 5 and 8. As per the decision, the classes will be held from 9 am to 12 noon without break, and the distribution of dry ration among students under the midday meal scheme will continue as before.
The primary schools will have to follow the same SoP issued for Classes 6 to 12, the minister said. However, the online classes will also continue. Students can attend offline classes in consultation with their parents or guardians.
