Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik tells parents to encourage children to attend classes – Education News
On the first day of the reopening of educational institutions, as 14 lakh students across the state attended physical classes, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik urged parents to send their children to schools.
The Odisha CM went on to describe the day as historic after schools in the state reopened after nearly a month after they were shut on January 10 in view of the third wave of the pandemic. Classes for students from Class 8 to Class 12 and colleges and universities resumed during the day. School managing committees were also asked by the chief minister to pay special attention to the students’ safety. Schools for students of kindergarten to Class 7 will be reopening on February 14.
The state CM urged parents in a video message addressed to students and guardians said “Children will have no difficulty if they attend schools. They should abide by the guidelines, maintain social distance, wear masks and frequently wash hands.” Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also expressed happiness over the reopening of schools in Odisha while urging students to attend offline classes without being afraid of Covid-19.
The chief minister went on to say that it is the children’s guardians who have the duty and responsibility of encouraging their wards to resume schools and maintain Covid-19 protocols.
