Four girls refuse to appear for practical exam in Dakshina Kannada following hijab row – Education News
After four girls of Melkar Women’s PU College in Marnabail in Bantwal taluk did not attend the crucial practical examination, which they were to appear for at the SVS PU College, officials of the department pre-university education in Dakshina Kannada confirmed that their absence was owing to the ongoing hijab row. Although the exams were held last week, the girls’ absence and the reason behind it were revealed only recently.
hijab row Principal of Melkar Women’s PU College BK Abdul Latheef said that the four girls had not appeared for the exam because they were not allowed to wear the hijab. “But 27 students enrolled in the science programmes, and the remaining 39 students in the commerce stream, all appeared for the practical exam.
The students removed the hijab, while appearing for the exam. I will write to the department of PU education, seeking clarity as to whether high court’s order is applicable to examination centres,” he said. All examination centres have been issued orders by the department of PU education to compile a list of students who were absent for the practical test.
