AICTE clarifies that final norms for BArch admission will be decided by Council of Architecture- Education News
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has issued a clarification on what it had said earlier about BArch admission norms.
AICTE had said that Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will not be mandatory in Class 12 level for admission into BArch courses. However, now it has issued a clarification stating that it is the Council of Architecture (CoA) which will be deciding the final BArch eligibility criteria for aspirants. On March 29, AICTE released its ‘Approval Process Handbook 2022-23’ where it had specified that PCM wouldn’t be mandatory for admissions into three courses Architecture, Fashion Technology and Packaging Technology. However, just days after the released, AICTE said that putting Architecture on the list had been an accident. Post correction, the AICTE handbook now states that BArch admission will be carried out “as per the norms of Council of Architecture” and not by AICTE.
