IGNOU should become the knowledge centre of the world, says Union Education Minister- Education News
While addressing the 35th convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the varsity should become the knowledge centre of the world while urging for the leveraging of technology to reach the unreached.
He further said IGNOU is a big confidence booster because it demonstrates the possibilities of the varsity’s innovative pedagogy and that the varsity has emerged as a modern-day Lord Hanuman by taking education and learning to the remotest corners.
He further said that the 21st century is the century of knowledge and a paradigm shift is a must to establish India as a knowledge-based economic superpower, and NEP 2020 is a step towards transforming our education and skills landscape.
Calling technology the new equalizer, the union minister said that we must ensure empowerment of our population through innovation, especially those at the bottom of the pyramid, and also ensure that education reaches the unreached. He added that Digital University and other e-learning initiatives are steps in this direction.
