Punjab schools to start summer vacations from May 14 due to heatwave- Education News
In light of the heatwave gripping India, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that summer vacations in Punjab schools would begin from May 14 onwards.
“Keeping in view of the sudden heatwave & suggestions from thousands of parents & teachers, it has been decided to observe summer vacation in all schools of Punjab from May 14,”
Punjab schools have also altered the school timings. Primary classes will be conducted from 7 am to 11 am from May 2 to 14, and senior classes will run from 7 am to 12:30 pm.
The last few days saw temperatures in Punjab and its neighboring regions climb a few degrees above average. This is why the Punjab government decided to start summer vacations in all Punjab schools from May 14 onwards.
On Friday, April 29, Bhatinda had a high temperature of 44 degrees Celsius while Patiala saw 43.4 degrees Celsius. Amritsar was also running at a similar 43.3 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana was at 43.2 degrees Celsius and Jalandhar was at 42.7 degrees Celsius.
