NIT Srinagar inaugurates India’s first Centre for Technology Intervention for the Elderly & Disabled- Education News
National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar conducted the inauguration ceremony of India’s first Centre for Technology Intervention for the Elderly and Disabled (CTIED) on Thursday.
Srinagar NIT Director Prof Rakesh Sehgal said this is the first time that such an initiative is being taken by any technical institute or university in the country. He said “Differently abled-persons are part and parcel of society and we should help them through innovations and technology. I believe this centre will bridge the gap between community and technology.”
He also highlighted problems faced by differently-abled people and stated that technical innovations will lessen their problems and problems. “If this centre will succeed in its motive that will be our biggest contribution to society,” he said, adding that it is a proud moment for the entire institution that it is taking the lead in this noble initiative.
