Founded in the year 1984 by Dr. H.K. Rawal – a Kenya-based businessman and philanthropist, Mussoorie International School aims to be a vibrant institution where the primary focus is on giving young learners a dynamic, effective and optimum learning experience. It is a school with a child-centred approach that recognizes the needs of an individual while working with the demands of a globally connected world. About The Principal

Ms. Meeta Sharma is a visionary in the field of education and has been actively defining the shifting borders of school education with her ideas that germinated during her rich experiences in some of the most premium institutions, nationally and internationally. She believes that today’s school education must thrive to become an experience towards the creation of thinkers and action takers. The seed to a beautiful mind is sown in the Eden of schools, is her conviction.

Teaching Methodology

The school’s pedagogy is competent and contemporary, with the aim to prepare students for further studies in the finest universities of the world. Activity and project-based experiential learning is facilitated across classes. Students are encouraged to think laterally and apply the concepts from their curriculum to their daily lives. A rigorous Professional Development program to upgrade/refresh the core competency skills of teachers and other staff is an important aspect of the school.

Campus Infrastructure

Sprawled across 40 acres of lush greenery, the MIS campus offers impeccable academic, sports and residential facilities for its students. The school houses classrooms that are equipped with SMART boards and projectors, a colossal auditorium, science and media labs, IT Labs, thinking labs, innovation labs, Mathematics Labs, a computer lab offering the latest computers and Wi-Fi access, a contemporary hostel, and ample facilities for sports and co-curricular activities.

Libraries

The MIS library, which also serves as a resource centre, is home to translations of the writings from Africa, South East Asia, Central Asia, and Latin America in addition to the wealth of literature from the regional languages of India. The primary section houses a separate library to cater to the specific reading requisites of the junior students.

Traditions

Traditions at Mussoorie International School are very deep-rooted. The entire school community chants the Gayatri Mantra every Saturday, and the havan and mantras are performed regularly. The school celebrates all festivals and has a number of traditions which are being followed since its inception.

Pastoral Care

The boarding environment of MIS encourages a firm sense of community. The three boarding houses – Gayatri, Santoshi and Laxmi, provide an excellent system of pastoral care promoting individual and academic confidence. The houses are staffed by teams that work to sustain and uphold the health and happiness of the students.

Sports & Co-curricular Education

Each student at MIS undergoes a general fitness program that includes weekly yoga, aerobics, and zumba classes. The students are given opportunities to excel and join the school and sports team. Each child must pick one team sport and one individual sport. To foster the spirit of sportsmanship, the school houses heated swimming pool, football ground, cricket ground, basketball court, lawn tennis court, badminton court, skating rink, golf greens. There are 33 clubs and societies offered to the students, which include painting, block printing, sculpture-making, pottery, debating, MUN, theatre, etc. Each student has to choose two clubs and one society. Learning a musical instrument is mandatory, each of which is taught in its own designated learning space.

Health

MIS has partnered with the organization ‘Health Set Go’. The school’s wellness center offers 24 hours of care. MIS has also tied up with two highly specialized hospitals, to provide medical aid in case of emergencies.
