Puducherry to introduce CBSE syllabus in govt school, Tamil to be optional-Education News

Union Territory Education, EB and Home Minister A Namassivayam stated that CBSE will be introduced in the government schools of Puducherry.

“We have decided to introduce the CBSE syllabus in government schools and have initiated the procedure. We need to get permission from the central education department and CBSE board,” stated Namassivayam. However, controversy blew up after he said that Tamil would be an optional language “You can study Tamil as an optional language.

Whoever wishes can learn,” said Namassivayam. He explained that several students had been shifting from Tamil medium and joining CBSE board as they had to face NEET and Puducherry JEE which they found difficult after studying at the state board.
