A Parliamentary Committee has recommended reducing the duration of the UPSC civil services examination selection cycle, citing the toll it takes on candidates’ physical and mental health and the waste of their prime years.
The Union Public Service Commission has been asked to take steps to reduce the duration of the recruitment cycle without compromising the quality of the examination. The Committee has also asked the to examine the reasons for the low turnout of candidates in the civil services examination.
