EDI is an architecture and Interior design firm that specializes in planning and design of educational institutions with the aim of creating environments that facilitate learning and meaningful Interaction. With projects and consultations in 57 countries across six continents, EDI provides comprehensive services to various public and private educational establishments.
The company’s diverse range of services include Visioning, Facilities Master planning, Architecture, Space Planning and Interior Design, Landscape Design, Furnishings, Acoustics and Lighting Design and Engineering Services. In addition to design, EDI also offers training and professional development services for faculty and administrators.
Over the years, EDI’s principals have received several prestigious awards including the James D. MacConnell award and published numerous papers in architectural and educational journals.
About the Founder – Mr. Prakash Nair
Prakash Nair is a futurist, a visionary architect and the Founding President & CEO of Education Design International (EDI). Prakash established EDI as an umbrella organisation that brings together the best school architecture with research-driven innovations in a number of other industries including
education, environmental science, neurology, psychology and child development.
Prior to starting EDI, Prakash served for 16 years as the Founding President & CEO of Fielding Nair International – a Company he helped build into one of the world’s leading change agents in school design with consultations in 57 countries on six continents. He is the recipient of many international awards including the MacConnell Award, the highest honour worldwide for school design.
He has written extensively in leading international journals about school design. He is the author of four books including the new landmark publication, Learning by Design: Live | Play | Engage | Create, The Language of School Design and Blueprint for Tomorrow: Redesigning Schools for
Student-Centered Learning published by the Harvard Education Press. Prakash served as an instructor for Harvard X “Leaders of Learning”, an online course which lets you explore and understand your own theories of learning and leadership. Led by Harvard’s Dr. Richard Elmore, Leaders of Learning helps identify an develop educators’ personal theory of learning, and explore how it fits into the shifting landscape of learning. In 2020, Leaders of Learning had over 159,000 registrants worldwide. He is widely considered to be the world’s leading authority on Innovative School Design. He
lectures frequently, conducts various Webinars for educators and design professionals and authors a blog on school design. He is a regular keynote speaker at international events and has delivered a TedX talk.

What made you come up with this product/ service?
vast majority of students, teachers, and staff members spend a considerable portion of their day within the school premises. Hence, the school environment plays a crucial role in their academic performance. However, the infrastructure in most schools falls short in promoting collaboration, creativity, and peer learning. To facilitate interactive and comfortable learning spaces that encourage children’s creativity and maintain their
curiosity while enhancing teacher and staff productivity, it is imperative to reconsider the conventional design of educational spaces. This is where EDI’s purpose comes into play as it strives to create an enjoyable and memorable learning experience.
