Prevention of violence in High Schools

School plays an essential role in promoting socializing and fostering a sense of community. But schools face the challenge of violence that disrupts learning and has a negative impact on the students. High school children are at a critical age and stage where they can be made more socially responsible. To avoid these situations. In this article let me throw some of the possibilities that might curtail the violence. As we all know the famous quote unoccupied mind is easily influenced by negative thoughts and behavior” -keeping the students engaged will solve the problem.
It is very important for schools to educate the conflict resolution, as many occurrences of violence in high school are the outcome of conflict among the learners, it is very important that communicating effectively should be part of the curriculum as this will enhance the learners to deal with conflict in a peaceful manner.

Eco-friendly initiatives, energy conservation, and Tree plantations on large scales if these programs are organized on a regular basis can create environmental awareness among them so they can preserve nature that can save the earth from global warming, and keep them on their toes.
Schools need to develop empathy and compassion among the high school students as they need to put themselves in other’s shoes, they need to understand the perspective of the other person which will help them develop empathy and become more tolerant members of society.

Schools can also ensure strict disciplinary policies are framed to deal with Violent behavior, the same should be conveyed to both the parents and the students, in fact, students could be made a part of the policy-framing process as it can foster a sense of trust between the management and the students as it is more a collaborative approach to averting mishaps.
We could avoid this by having a strong monitoring system, keeping extra security in areas of parking and other common areas where the chances of students getting into the squabble is possible so largely, we can avoid violence in such areas. This can also avoid any unnecessary material being brought into the campus. A simple suggestion box can be used to report incidents in the anonymous information system to avoid incidents from taking place, as the management can resolve the conflict carefully without any information being revealed.
Lastly, we need to deal with mental health problems, that can be addressed at an early stage as most cases high schoolers turn out to be violent if they have experienced bullying or rejection from peers, they tend to end up hurting others. So summing up we need to have a multilayered approach to deal with such situations and an equal contribution from all the stakeholders.
