Kolkata schools have introduced monthly charges under ‘other essentials’

A number of schools in Kolkata have introduced a new charge ranging between Rs 400 and Rs 800 per month, terming these “other essential charges” or “incidental charges”. This is being done in attribution to essential expenses incurred during the pandemic.

“We have introduced an incidental expense of Rs 800 per month because we have to upgrade our online facilities and bring in Covid-fighting sanitisation facilities on all four campuses,” said Julien Broughton, chairman, Julien Day group of schools.
