BMC-run schools to be called Mumbai Public Schools
The BMC has decided to rebrand its schools to be called Mumbai Public Schools. The BMC has also made a budgetary provision of Rs 2 crore for 10 new CBSE schools in the city. The civic body’s education budget announced on Wednesday is marginally up to Rs 2,945.78 crore from last year’s Rs 2,944.59 crore. Currently, 2.1 lakh students study in BMC schools.
The BMC’s budget statement said “To positively influence public perception towards our schools, the BMC will rebrand 963 upper primary civic schools and 224 secondary civic schools to be as MPS supplemented by the original school name.”
