Former teacher in Mohali starts mobile library ‘Hope on Wheels’ to help needy students – Education News
Sandeep Kumar Badsra, a former teacher from Mohali, during the pandemic, started to think of students who were losing out on education due to the unavailability of essentials that are needed to cope up with the new normal. This led him to start an initiative of the mobile library in which he would carry books and other essential items for the children of slums so that they can continue their studies.
He provided books and other study materials to the underprivileged students who could not afford the technology. “I was a teacher at a school, but then I realised students don’t have basic things, such as pencils and notebooks. That’s when I decided to help them this way,” said Badsra.
Sandeep Kumar Badsra also initiated a non-government organization called ‘Open Eyes Foundation’ and he named his mobile library initiative – ‘Hope on Wheels’.
He has equipped one side of the vehicle with a LED screen to be used to teach students and the other side of the vehicle has been made into a mobile library.
The vehicle also carries sanitary napkins for the women who do not have access to the same. At the time of the pandemic when people are struggling to survive, it is people like Sandeep Kumar Badsra who teach us that there is no greater joy than helping the needful and co-existing.
