Dr Soni said that Vedic mathematics will be introduced from 6th standard onwards and at least three questions will be asked about the Vedic in each term. “HPSEB will be the first education board of the country to introduce Sanskrit in the third standard. Teachers will be trained accordingly by including Sanskrit and Vedic mathematics in the Diploma in Education course (D.Ed)” he said. The Board Chief said that the examination pattern for the third and fourth standard Sanskrit examinations would be objective.

After the fifth standard, the exams will be descriptive. He said that only two to three Vedic mathematics chapters will be introduced in the 6th standard so that the students are not overburdened. However, Sanskrit language courses will be divided into three stages. Reacting to the board’s decision, Congress has accused the BJP of saffronising the education system. “BJP is trying to saffronise and politicise education. Instead of imposing the party’s agenda, the Jairam Government should improve the amenities in the schools” said Congress spokesperson Naresh Chauhan.
