UGC-approved free NEP-PDP for teachers of higher education institutions- Education News

By virtue of the National Education Policy-2020, the Ministry of Education New Delhi has entrusted IGNOU with the responsibility of orienting 15 lakh higher education teachers from universities and constituent colleges.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has been entrusted with the responsibility by the Ministry of Education, Government of India New Delhi, for orienting 15 lakh higher education teachers of Universities and their constituent College for implementation of National Education Policy- 2020 (NEP-2020) in a period of six months. The Education Minister of India, Dharmendra Pradhan, proposes the launch of the programme on September 5, 2022, to commemorate Teacher’s Day.

IGNOU OFFERS 36-HOUR TRAINING PROGRAMME

In accordance with Dr Amit Chaturvedi, Senior Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Noida, IGNOU offers a 36-hour training programme on NEP-PDP (National Education Policy – Professional Development Programme) exclusively for teachers from higher education institutions/universities.

ABOUT NEP- PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

NEP-PDP is free of cost and also recognised by the University Grant Commission (UGC) as an equivalent 6-day Short-Term Professional Development Programme of UGC-HRDC which can be completed by a teacher in 9 days.
By the end of the programme, teachers at higher education institutions will have a good understanding of the various dimensions of NEP-2020. Registration for the NEP-PDP began nationwide on Independence Day.

PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

BLENDED MODE

Firstly, The programme will be delivered through a blended learning mode comprising: self-learning of digital modules (4 modules comprising 14 units); digital videos (30); online synchronous interaction (1) through Swayam Prabha Channel-20, as well as an asynchronous Discussion Forum (1) at the SWAYAM platform.

The programme can be completed within 6-9 days. The assessment and certification will be based on a Discussion Forum Test (15 MCQs for 30 marks) and a Programme-End Test (35 MCQs for 70 marks). An e-Certificate of completion will be awarded if they score 50% or more on the tests.

Following the completion of the 6-day program, they will receive an e-Certificate that can be used for API, CAS, and other career advancement requirements specified by UGC.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Any teacher of any Higher Education Institute in India can participate in this programme, for which they have to register at the Samarth-NEP portal (https://ignou-nep-pdp.samarth.ac.in) by uploading the Institution I-Card or copy of the recommendation letter issued by the Head of the Institution, recent photograph and scanned signature.
