The schools managed by the tea gardens will also receive mid-day meals, free textbooks and uniform for its students. Announcing this, the education minister of the state Ranoj Pegu said: “Assam Cabinet has decided to provincialise 419 LP schools, 2 ME schools and 1 High school run by the Tea Garden managements in Assam.”

Assam government will also create two posts of assistant teachers in each of the lower primary schools, three posts of teachers in the middle English schools and as many as six posts of teachers in the high school managed by the tea gardens. The cabinet has also decided to centralise the recruitment of college principals and teachers by constituting the Assam College Service Recruitment Board. This, Pegu in a social media post said, will relieve the candidates applying for college principals and teachers from the hassle of applying to multiple colleges. The board seeks to provide a single window for recruitment. This will help avoid the selection of one candidate against multiple posts, he added.
