Assam to conduct board exams in mid July if Covid-19 positivity rate drops below 2% percent

The Assam government has decided to conduct the Class 10 and 12 board exams in July or August if the Covid-19 positivity rate drops below 2%, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, he said that the guardians of the students and several students’ organizations are in favour of holding the state board exams.

“We also want to hold the examination in mid of July in a suitable environment for the students. If the Covid-19 positivity rate comes down below 2 percent in the first week of July then we will hold the examinations.If positivity rate will increase above 2 percent then we will cancel the examination. We don’t want to take any risk of student health,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

“The examination will be held in between July 15 to 20. The boys and girls will appear in the examination separately so that social distance should be maintained,” the Chief Minister said.
