St Joseph’s Boys High School Celebrates Excellence at Junior and Senior School Annual Prize Day 2025

On 5th July 2025, the Junior and Senior School Annual Prize Day was celebrated with great pomp and pride at St Joseph’s Boys High School, Residency Road, Bengaluru. The event marked the culmination of a year filled with diligence, perseverance, and academic excellence. For the prize winners of the academic year 2024–25, it was a moment of well-earned recognition — a celebration of hard work turned into success.

The day was divided into two ceremonies: the Junior School Prize Day in the morning and the Senior School Prize Day in the afternoon. Both events reflected the school’s commitment to holistic development and its deep-rooted tradition of honouring scholastic excellence.

Morning Ceremony: Junior School Prize Day

The morning saw the Junior School Prize Day take centre stage, with young achievers from Classes 1 to 5 receiving awards for academic distinction. The Chief Guest for the morning was Mr George Ollapally, a distinguished alumnus from the Batch of 1968 and currently the Director of Timken India Limited. His presence evoked nostalgia and pride, symbolising the heights Josephites can reach.

Fr Paul Anand SJ, Primary School Administrator, opened the ceremony with a warm welcome, praising the tireless efforts of the students. He encouraged the young scholars to dream big and be ready to work hard to bring those dreams to life. Fr Paul reminded them that every dream begins with a small step and that perseverance would take them far.

Mr Ollapally, in his address, offered motivational insights rooted in his own journey. He encouraged the children to trust in their capabilities, build confidence through consistent effort, and aim for excellence in all they do. His words resonated deeply with both students and parents alike, providing a strong foundation of belief and encouragement.

Afternoon Ceremony: Senior School Prize Day

Later in the day, the Senior School Prize Day was held to honour the achievements of students from Classes 6 to 12 — including the recently graduated batches of Class 10 and 12, who had excelled in their Board Examinations. The students were beaming with pride, as their outstanding academic performance had opened new doors to further studies and future careers.

Mr Shravan Gupta, alumnus from the Batch of 1991 and the Chairman of Kriya Ventures, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Known for his entrepreneurial spirit and leadership, Mr Gupta inspired students with a candid and impactful message. He highlighted the importance of regular practice, especially during times when the effort feels unnoticed or unrewarding. His advice: stay curious, embrace mistakes, and remain persistent — a formula that resonated with many of the senior students preparing for the next stages of their academic and professional lives.

Fr Norwin Pereira SJ, the school Principal, welcomed the gathering and offered his heartfelt congratulations to the prize winners. In his speech, he urged students to never settle, but to always strive for greater heights, reminding them that true education lies in the pursuit of excellence, not just in accolades.

Celebrating Excellence Through Song, Dance, and Applause

The event was not limited to speeches and awards. Both the morning and afternoon programmes were beautifully interwoven with musical performances, dances, and a presentation of the School Annual Report — all of which added vibrancy and emotion to the formal proceedings.

The highlight, of course, was the Prize Distribution Ceremony. Medals and certificates were handed out to meritorious students, and cash awards were presented as a token of appreciation for their efforts. Each name called to the stage was met with thunderous applause, a genuine and warm recognition of dedication and achievement.
