Yog Sankalp: Bal Bharati Public Schools Embark on a Nationwide Wellness Journey Through Yoga
On May 21, 2025, the Child Education Society (Regd.) (CES), the governing body of Bal Bharati Public Schools (BBPS), officially launched its flagship wellness campaign, ‘Yog Sankalp’, at Bal Bharati Public School, Ganga Ram Hospital Marg, New Delhi. This campaign, developed in collaboration with Mokshayatan Yog Sansthan, aims to integrate the principles of yoga into daily school life across all 26 BBPS branches in India, marking a significant step toward promoting holistic education deeply rooted in Indian culture and universal values.
A Vision Rooted in Tradition and Wellness
The Yog Sankalp initiative embodies a fusion of ancient Indian yogic wisdom with modern educational excellence, aligning with CES’s longstanding mission to provide holistic, innovative, and value-based education. The programme is set to unfold over a month, culminating in a grand observance on International Yoga Day, June 21, 2025, involving students, teachers, and communities from all BBPS branches.
Inaugural Ceremony: A Reverent and Joyful Launch
The launch event was a ceremonious affair, graced by prominent dignitaries and stakeholders in the CES community. Among those present were Mr. Nikhil Channa, President of CES and Chairman of the Sports Council; Mr. L.V. Sehgal, Joint Secretary CES; members of the CES Board of Management; principals and staff from various BBPS institutions; and representatives from the PTA and Alumni Association. The presence of Mr. Rohit Khanna, Advisor to the FIT India Movement, reinforced the campaign’s alignment with national wellness objectives.
The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, accompanied by the chanting of Sanskrit shlokas, invoking a sense of spiritual awakening and reverence. Students from Bal Bharati schools and yoga practitioners from Mokshayatan Yog Sansthan mesmerized the audience with synchronized rhythmic yoga performances, showcasing the strength, discipline, and meditative depth of yogic practice.
Leadership Reflections: Vision and Legacy
In his welcome address, Mr. L.V. Sehgal described Yog Sankalp as a symbol of CES’s enduring commitment to holistic well-being. He paid tribute to Late Shri L.R. Channa, former President of CES, who was a pioneer in advocating yoga as a pathway to a healthier India. Sehgal emphasized the institution’s eight-decade-long journey of integrating physical, mental, and emotional development with academic rigor.
Mr. Nikhil Channa, in his speech, highlighted the deeper purpose of Yog Sankalp. “This is a tribute to our values and our vision of nurturing young minds and bodies to create a generation that is calm, confident, and connected to its roots,” he said. He elaborated on how yoga represents the ideal balance between inner peace and discipline — qualities essential for students navigating modern challenges.
Acharya Pratishthaji’s Discourse: The Soul of the Event
A significant highlight of the day was a deeply engaging session by Acharya Pratishthaji, a renowned yoga exponent from Mokshayatan Yog Sansthan. Addressing the theme of happiness as a universal human goal, she spoke about the practical ways in which yoga can shape a more content and harmonious life. She introduced the audience to transformative practices such as ‘attahas’ (laughter yoga) and meditation, guiding them to connect with their inner selves.
Her inspirational talk underscored the importance of making yoga a daily lifestyle choice, not merely an exercise. The enthusiastic response to her address, along with the overwhelming reception of her pre-launch instructional videos on various yog asanas, reflected the readiness of the CES community to embrace this wellness revolution.
These instructional videos have been distributed digitally across BBPS platforms to ensure that every stakeholder — students, parents, teachers, and alumni — can engage with the practice meaningfully from their own spaces, thereby extending the initiative’s reach beyond school boundaries.
A Commitment to Lifelong Well-being
The campaign’s activities across all BBPS branches will continue throughout the month, culminating in large-scale celebrations on International Yoga Day. Each school will contribute unique events and community outreach programs, reinforcing yoga’s role in promoting personal health and collective harmony.
Concluding the event, Ms. Asha Prabhakar, Convenor of the CES Sports Council, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks. She reiterated CES’s unwavering commitment to making yoga an integral part of school life, not just as an extracurricular activity but as a core component of holistic education.
Yog Sankalp: A Model for Educational Transformation
With Yog Sankalp, CES and BBPS have set a visionary example of how educational institutions can become catalysts for societal transformation. By nurturing not only academic excellence but also mental, physical, and emotional well-being, this initiative reflects a deep understanding of the true purpose of education: the complete flourishing of human potential.
In bridging traditional practices with contemporary needs, Yog Sankalp offers a powerful blueprint for integrating health, culture, and education — creating a generation of learners who are rooted, resilient, and ready for the future.
