Due to Cyclone Michaung, schools in the Puducherry, Karaikal, and Yanam regions will be shut tomorrow, December 4. In a statement released on Friday, Director of School Education P Priyatarshiny announced the closure of all schools on December 4 due to the anticipated impact of Cyclone Michaungon coastal regions. Official sources said this is part of precautionary measures taken by the government. The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal escalated into the cyclonic storm 'Michaung' on Sunday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). It is anticipated to make landfall along the South Andhra Pradesh coast, specifically between Nellore and Machilipatnam, during the forenoon of December 5. The cyclonic storm is expected to bring maximum sustained wind speeds of 80-90 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 100 kmph, as outlined in the IMD bulletin.
