AFCAT 1 2026 Registration Begins: Apply by Dec 14

New Delhi: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has opened registrations for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT 1) 2026 from November 17, 2025. Candidates can apply online on the official portal afcat.edcil.co.in until December 14, 2025. The exam will be held on January 31, 2026, and admit cards will be available for download from January 22, 2026.

The recruitment is aimed at inducting officers for the January 2027 course.

Eligibility Criteria

Citizenship: Indian
Documents Required: Class 10 & 12 certificates, Aadhaar, valid email ID, and phone number

Age Limit:

  • Flying Branch: 20–24 years
     
  • Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical): 20–26 years

Educational Qualification:

Ground Duty (Non-Technical):

  • 4-year graduation or integrated post-graduation in Engineering/Technology
     
  • Minimum 60% in Physics & Mathematics at 10+2 level

Flying Branch:

  • Graduation (minimum 3 years) in any discipline with 60% marks
     
  • Must have studied Physics & Mathematics at 10+2 level
     
  • BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks

Technical Branch:

  • 4-year degree in Engineering/Technology OR
     
  • Cleared Sections A & B of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) / Aeronautical Society of India with 60% marks

Application Fee

  • Rs 550 + GST
     
  • Candidates can choose up to five preferred cities from 104 exam centres

  3. Complete registration & create login ID
     
  4. Fill application form with personal, educational, and communication details
     
  5. Upload required documents, photograph, and signature
     
  6. Pay the application fee
     
  7. Download and save the confirmation page

Exam Pattern

The AFCAT 1 2026 selection process consists of:

  1. Online Written Exam
     
  2. Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Interview
     
  3. Medical Examination

Written Exam Details:

  • Sections: General Awareness, Verbal Ability (English), Numerical Ability, Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test
     
  • 100 questions, 300 marks, 2 hours
     
  • Scoring: +3 marks per correct answer, -1 for wrong answers

Successful candidates will undergo training at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, Hyderabad.
