Delhi University Admissions 2025: What’s New for UG, PG, Law, BTech & SOL Applicants

The University of Delhi (DU), one of India’s most sought-after academic institutions, has kicked off its 2025 admissions cycle with several significant updates. From the introduction of the CSAS portal for undergraduate courses to a new integrated law programme, DU’s reforms aim to simplify the application process, enhance transparency, and align with national testing standards, such as CUET and CLAT.

In this blog, we guide you through all the key updates for undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), B.Tech, law, and School of Open Learning (SOL) admissions at the University of Delhi.

1. CSAS Portal for Undergraduate (UG) Admissions

For the 2025–26 academic session, DU has launched the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for 71,624 UG seats across 79 affiliated colleges. Students must register on the portal at admission.uod.ac.in.

The CSAS portal will operate in two phases:

Phase 1: Application Submission

  • Submit personal and academic details, including CUET-UG roll number and Class 12 marks.
  • Upload supporting documents and certificates.
  • Programme preferences are not selected in this phase.

Fees:

  • General/OBC: ₹250
  • SC/ST/PwD: ₹100
  • Additional Fees: ₹100 for ECA/Sports; ₹400 for performance/practical-based programmes

Phase 2: College and Programme Preferences

  • Subject Mapping: Match CUET subjects with Class 12 subjects.
  • Check Eligibility: DU’s portal will show eligibility based on CUET score and mapped subjects.
  • Preference Selection: Choose and rank programme-college combinations.
  • Final Locking: Preferences must be locked before the deadline; otherwise, they’ll auto-lock.

💡 Tip: The order of preferences directly impacts seat allocation priority.

2. Class 10 Marks Now Required for Tie-Breaking

A new addition this year is the inclusion of Class 10 marks in the CSAS form, which DU will use for tie-breaking when two candidates have identical CUET and eligibility scores. Make sure your Class 10 scorecard is ready at the time of registration.

3. Subject Changes in CUET for 2025

DU has revised its domain-specific subject list for CUET-based admissions:

  • Removed Subjects: Engineering Graphics and Entrepreneurship
Students must now only select subjects studied in Class 12 or their closest CUET equivalent. Choosing unrelated subjects may result in disqualification.

4. PG Admissions: First Seat Allotment Released

The first PG seat allotment will be released on June 18 at 5 PM via pgadmission.uod.ac.in. The list is based on scores from CUET PG 2025.

There will be:

  • Two regular counselling rounds
  • A mid-entry window for late applicants

Special Quotas from Round 1:

  • PwBD
  • Orphan category
  • Single Girl Child (SGC) — 1 seat per programme

From Round 3 Onward:

  • CW (Children/Wards of Armed Forces)
  • Sports and performance-based admissions

5. DU Launches Integrated Law Programme

In a landmark move, DU has introduced an Integrated Law Programme in its history.

Courses Offered:

  • BA LLB (H)
  • BBA LLB (H)

Key Points:

  • Admission based on CLAT 2025 ranks
  • Apply at: law.uod.ac.in
  • Classes begin August 1, 2025

This adds a fresh dimension to DU’s academic portfolio, offering a robust path for students aiming for careers in law right after Class 12.

6. BTech Admissions: Allotment & Rounds

Seat allotment for DU’s BTech programmes was released on June 17. The process includes:

  • Two main rounds of admission
  • Mid-entry option for new candidates

Quotas Starting Round 1:

  • PwBD
  • Orphans
  • SGC category

Quotas Starting Round 3:

  • CW
  • Ward-based seats

7. DU SOL (School of Open Learning) Admissions: CUET Not Required

The School of Open Learning (SOL) at DU has made it clear that CUET is not required for several programmes.

UG Admissions (Without CUET):

  • Programmes: BA, BCom, MBA, BLISc, MLISc, PGDADLM
  • Application Dates: June 11 to September 15, 2025

PG Admissions:

  • Through CUET: Register by July 10, 2025
  • Merit-Based: Register by July 31, 2025

For LIS and PGDADLM courses, the application window remains open until September 15.

This route offers flexible higher education for working professionals, distance learners, and those not taking CUET.

8. Admission Alerts and Timeline Optimisation

To improve transparency and reduce delays, DU will:

  • Send notifications and alerts via registered email IDs
  • Streamline counselling to complete it in the shortest time possible
  • Offer multiple rounds of seat allotment with upgrade and withdrawal options

These changes reflect DU’s focus on a digital-first, student-centric approach to admissions.

Conclusion: Navigating DU Admissions 2025 With Confidence

Delhi University has significantly overhauled its admission procedures for 2025 across undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), BTech, Law, and Open Learning streams. With user-friendly portals, quota enhancements, and more apparent timelines, the process aims to be more inclusive, merit-based, and transparent than ever before.

Whether you're aiming for a traditional UG seat, applying for a niche integrated law course, or exploring flexible options via SOL, DU’s updated structure ensures there’s a pathway for every type of learner.
