Mata Jai Kaur ji and Bhai Sahib Ditta Mal ji are a source of illumination and inspiration to all of us. Bhai Sahib Ditta Mal Ji in memory of his revered wife, Mata Jai Kaur ji, founded Mata Jai Kaur Public School in 1977. Under the care of our Chairman Sardar Surjeet Singh ji, the school progressed by leaps and bounds and emerged as one of the leading institutions in Delhi. It has since maintained the pace of its growth inspired and guided by the eminent educationists and administrators. For over 42 years, Mata Jai Kaur Public School has been rendering yeoman service in the field of education and trying its best to transform the personality of every child who moves away from its ramparts after years of formal schooling. At every trying step, we have had the privilege of receiving the support and motivation by confident parents, dedicated staff and our committed students. In all these years of experience, we have learnt a very simple yet very significant lesson- “The needs of the society are like an ocean and the service we render are mere drops” The onus of moulding the next generation, the nation’s backbone, into caring and responsible members of the society rests upon each of us. Thus, apart from academic excellence, the child must acquire the right habits, self-control, polite mannerisms and a passionate concern for the environment and the society. They ought to be challenged to be the inquirers so that they redefine the conventions and break the prejudices to be the pioneers of causes beyond the limited aspects of life. I foresee these children growing in their various capacities and making the school and their families proud. Times change... times are changing... and with them have changed the perception of students, from mere survival to surviving with excellence. It is thus imperative that we keep abreast of the new pathways whilst we hold on to the vantage point of our goals. The intrinsic value of education is in instilling in children the willingness, the passion, the perseverance to pursue excellence in life and combat failure and success with equal aplomb. It is for us to ensure that children are escorted to the threshold of their own minds and are motivated to make their own trajectories. What then remains is occasional monitoring and inspiring children to focus on remedies, not pitfalls. I have utmost faith that the best form of learning emanates from one’s experiences. Our endeavor must be to make space for everyday experiences and let education take the course it will.

When the intent is clear, the action and the passion flow naturally in that direction. Reaching out to our children despite all challenges has been our clear intent that has driven all our actions and decisions in the framework of education. Each day has brought with it new challenges. Each solution has been driven with the children in mind. We hope we reached you. Like tiny seeds with the innate power to push through tough ground and become mighty trees, we hold the same innate reserves of unimaginable strength. We are resilient. As we look at ways of steering through these unusual times, we need unusual thought processes, measures and actions. New linkages need to be driven with regard to not only new methods of teaching, but also with ways of transacting with each other, allocating out time to the mundane and to the new methods-understanding technology, re-thinking use of our devices, restructuring bandwidth and network speeds, prioritising schedules for working from home, sharing time and space with family to keep everyone engaged and that too while balancing the swinging socio-emotional needs of all. Times as these have pushed everyone to shuffle their value systems, re model meals around nutrition and building immunity and learn to manage homes with a new perspective. Our children have been participating actively in all the processes and changes in routine. They have been deeply involved in not only the curricular and co-curricular activities but also in the management of their homes and assisting their parents in adapting to technology. A paradigm shift has taken place in the roles, relationships, the environment at home, essentials of life, eating habits, meaning of health, modes of learning, platforms and timings of learning, testing and examinations. Self- driven learning giving rise to possibilities of learning through educational videos and online courses has been breaking geographical boundaries and is here to stay. Our Parents have been our true partners in education, supporting phenomenal changes needed during these times. The staff has continued to grow and progress, adapting to different dimensions. The sheer intent to reach out and add meaning has driven all to learn, Adapt, Re-learn and collaborate to ensure continuity of processes. Difficult times push us to collaborate, redefine relationships, add depth to our existence and re think the real meaning of education. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Parents, staff and students who have been our equal partners in education process through these times. Our management has held the well-being of each one of us as paramount and integral to all decisions taken during these times. I thank each one of you who has been with us in this journey and urge you to continue to be resilient, as the endeavour to prevail, despite the rough times continues. I urge each one of you to continue to broaden your vistas and be a learner at heart, and navigate through these times strengthening your skill-set and your faith.
