About School

About the School The Christ Church Girls' School owes its name to the Christ Church Cathedral, where it made its humble beginning, on 1st June 1870. The school began with just 6 students. It has come a long way since then and now has more than 2400 girls. The school strictly adheres to the rules made by the Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) and maintains an ideal Teacher-Pupil Ratio. It is observed that children today are unfortunately subjected to many avoidable stresses and strains, which at times have serious consequences. The School has sensed this dire need and counselling facilities, under a well qualified Counsellor, help the students overcome their various psychological problems. The School also realizes its duty of creating awareness among its students towards their environment and insists on cleanliness and the beauty of its surroundings. We have many Play stations, Beautiful Gardens with colorful flowers and a number of trees of different types which inculcates in all the students a love for nature and a desire to preserve the environment. The Greenery also provides a soothing atmosphere where learning becomes enjoyable. The School is of the opinion that morality is the foundation of purposeful life. The Integrated School Programs and activities are inter-woven with positive values so that the child can constantly imbibe moral values through all the activities she performs. Dance, Drama, Fine Arts, Handicraft, Elocution, Debating and many such activities that are encouraged by the School help children acquire sensitivity, aesthetic sense, confidence and a balanced personality. The National festivals are celebrated with great zeal and patriotism. Above all, the School has a well qualified staff who teach children with extreme care, love and dedication. Our Principal, Mrs Preeti Thangadurai, has done her entire schooling from St. Matthias Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Chennai. She has done her Bachelor's Degree in Economics Hons. from Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai and her Masters Degree ( Economics) from the Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya , Jabalpur. She has done her B.Ed. from Navyug College of Arts and Commerce, Jabalpur. She joined as a Teacher in the Primary School on 23rd June 1998 and served as the Primary School In-charge for 6 years. Mrs. Thangadurai taught English and Social Science in the Middle School and also helped in the administration of the school. She trained the girls for elocutions, dramatics and oratory skills. With her excellent skills in teaching and the opportunities awarded to her, she rose to the post of a Vice Principal and on June 26th 2012, she was appointed as the Principal . The school looks forward to her enthusiasm and mature determination and has full faith in her philanthropic attitude to strive for the betterment of each and every child and believes that her able guidance will help the school to achieve new heights.
