About School
The saga of 41 glorious years is infact the history of Herculean efforts made by the Rotarians of Rotary Club Gurgaon, R.I. Distt 3011. The odyssey began in 1981 when there was no senior secondary school in the great city of Guru Dronacharya . The need of the hour was felt by the Rotarians of the Rotary Club Gurgaon. With a vision to impart quality education to the greatest number, a Rotary Service Trust was formed comprising of the members of Rotary Club Gurgaon . These men of genius, with confidence in God, joined heads and hands together and wove the threads of their project. Their devoted action plans multiplied million folds and built the fabric “Rotary Public School”, Gurgaon with a vision that “For want of money no child should be deprived of the right to quality education”. Pioneering the cause of education for a maximum number, Rotary Public School Gurgaon stands as the first venture of Rotary Service Trust Gurgaon whose foundation stone was laid by Ex-Chief Election Commissioner Dr.S.Y.Qureshi, then Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon Range. Initially the school made a humble start with only four rooms in sec-17 and a small number of students. With the passage of time, more and more enthusiastic Rotarians joined the Trust and thus started the success story with the expansion of the school. Progressing by leaps and bounds, the school weathered many transformations and had the proud privilege of becoming First Senior Secondary School in Gurgaon affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi with 3 major streams: Science , Commerce & Humanities. Since its inception the school has ever moved forward. The educational experiences have been satisfying but the zealous Rotarians set themselves stiff goals. With the town developing fast in a metropolitan with an influx of multinational establishments, they too had miles to go. They could not rest on their past success, they strived to improve the infrastructure further so as to meet the challenges with a renewed spirit of urgency. Realizing the magnitude of providing quality education at an affordable cost, they planned to accommodate more children in the school . Thus arose the need for a bigger & better building and they got allotted 5 acres of land at the market price by Haryana Urban Development Authority in sector 22, Gurgaon, once again with the untiring efforts of dedicated Rotarians .The task ahead was all the more challenging because sufficient funds were required for the construction of the building With dreams in their eyes and vision in their minds, they decided to take a loan from the bank for the construction. Hats off to the Trustees of Rotary Service Trust, who took a big risk and mortgaged their personal properties to take a loan of Rs.3 crores for the construction of the building, since the banks normally donot give loan to the Trusts. Finally the dream came true in the year 2000, when the first rays of sunlight endowed upon superbly designed spacious building incorporating the latest in the school architecture and thus a new school saw the dawn whose foundation stone was laid by Past R.I.President Rtn.Carlo Ravizza on 21 January 1998. & the building was also inaugurated by him on 6th April 2000. Since then many diginatories have visited the School,to name a few PRIP Rajender K Saboo,PRIP Kalyan Banerjee, RIP(E) K R Ravinderan,PRID Sudarshan Aggarwal,PRID Late OP Vaish,PRID Sushil Gupta,PRID Shekhar Mehta,RID(E) Dr Manoj Desai and many more. Spread over sprawling locale of 5 acres , the present building of Rotary Public School in Sec-22 is agronomically constructed & includes big play grounds, voluminous libraries backed by well equipped Science , Maths & Social Studies Labs, Gigantic Computer Labs with Cyber room , massive Amphitheatre with a seating Capacity of 2500, a well thought out ramp for the handicapped , a three bedded Medical Inspection Room ,a fleet of 15 buses for the comfortable commuting of the children, CCTV surveillance , Smart Boards in all classes, R.O. Plant , Rain water harvesting, Indoor and Outdoor Sports,Ultra-modern Conference Room with power back generating System and to cap it all , high-tech Audio Visual Hall. Adding yet another feather to its cap, another state of the art new Primary wing has been constructed and is now functional. Total school strength is approx. 2387 and children with free education are approx. 730 students who belongs to economically weaker section of society are imparted free education in the main stream. Setting higher standard of excellence, the students have won several laurels to school and are being moulded towards becoming future citizens. It is kudos to the far sighted, deep insight and dedication of the Rotarians of Rotary Club Gurgaon, who strive together towards the ultimate goal of serving humanity in the most befitting manner.
