Dear Students and Families I hope that all of you had a pleasant summer and had some time for rest and relaxation. I am looking forward to a great school year ahead. We are proud of our staff and students and invite you to get to know our school. I encourage you to become involved by volunteering or visiting school whenever you desire. It is with great pleasure that I welcome you, as part of our educational family, to the 2014-2015 school year. A new school year is always an exciting time for all. It presents opportunities for various beginnings – new classes, new faces, sometimes new courses, new expectations, a busier schedule, more choices and often new materials. Your child’s time at HTCS will be exciting and filled with many new opportunities. At the beginning of each school year, parents frequently ask questions about what they can do to support their child during the years. School life can be challenging at times, but there are several simple things that will help students achieve success. Parents, please take time to: Talk with your child about their school day. Ask them specific questions about their time at school. For example, “What was the most interesting thing you did in mathematics class today?” or “Tell me about your science experiment? Maintain contact with your child’s teachers and staff members to establish a successful home/school connection. Students, here are some tips to help you get started with your transition: 1. Make reminders and plan ahead. 2. Use your school planner/agenda. 3. Make time for homework and assignments Get involved at school. Participate in intermural sports. Our goal is to challenge your child academically, grow them socially and emotionally, and guide them towards independent thinking and problem solving. Students will be encouraged to display good character and to make good choices that will result in successful outcomes. We are looking forward to a great school year filled with enriching activities and learning experiences. Our school learning community is strengthened by our partnerships. The active participation of students, staff, families, and community organizations are essential for our continued success. We are looking forward to a positive, upbeat school year at HTCS. I encourage all students to stand up to mistreatment, vandalism, and to anything you know is not right. Remind yourself you do not have to follow the crowd. Be yourself and even when no one is watching, do the right thing. Parents, please help us by reinforcing school expectations at home. With your help, HTCS will continue to be a school community in which every person feels respected, valued, and is encouraged and challenged to achieve at the highest levels. I am really proud and exuberant to acclaim that we are ready with all new hopes and hues to begin our new academic session. With the advent of technology, the classrooms have become centre of collaborative and comprehensive learning that would enhance the growth curve and prepare the students for challenging roles in the future. Empowerment of students for their all round development through education is our cherished motto "arise and shine". I want that our students should be imparted an all round education so that they become multidimensional rather that uni-dimensional. In my view acquiring information is no longer the main focus of education; instead the main aim of education is to build the powers of human minds and spirit. We believe in providing our students an environment, rich in knowledge and supportive for their extra curricular interests. We aim to evaluate our students on the basis of their physical, mental, social, emotional and intellectual development and a catalytic force to metamorphose the social fabric. There is a strong ethos of parental involvement for we recognise the need for open communication between the school and the home. It is only when teachers, students, parents and other members of the community work in partnership that a child can grow into an adult who displays sensitivity, integrity, good citizenship and respect for human diversity. I have realised that with little hard work and some attention from parents, guidance and a pat on the back from teachers make the process of learning easier, acceptable and enjoyable It is our aim to help all students to achieve a level of excellence in their chosen fields.
