Founded in 1859 by Don Bosco, an Italian saint-educator, the Don Bosco Society is now present in 132 countries across the world. In 1906 the Don Bosco Society started working in India. The first Don Bosco School was set up in Mumbai in 1928. DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE Dear Parents, DBIS, like a tiny sapling, has grown steadily across the years. As DBIS turns 10 this year, we can proudly say that we are a full-fledged school from nursery to grade XII across two International Boards. I am grateful to all our former and present directors, principals, coordinators, teachers, administrative and ancillary staff who have contributed in different ways towards making DBIS a much sought-after school in Mumbai today. DBIS was the brain-child of several experienced Salesian educationists who dared to dream big, at a time when State Board schools, and a few CBSE and ICSE schools were largely the norm across India. DBIS started off with the CAIE (UK) programme, with Fr. Savio Silveira as the first Director. The school expanded gradually from Jr. K.G. to grade II, and progressively to grades V and VII, with an additional grade each year till grade XII .We are grateful to the parents who entrusted their children to our care when DBIS was a newly-budding school. Fr. Adolph Furtado, the second DBIS Director initiated the International Baccalaureate PYP programme, while Grades VI to X continued with the CAIE programme. Fr. Crispino D’Souza the third Director, together with Ms. Meena Saldanha as Principal, consolidated the existing educational programmes together with the PYP, CAIE, and Sports coordinators. Expanding further, the IBDP programme was initiated, followed by the introduction of the Cambridge A and AS-level programmes. Our committed and dedicated coordinators and teachers have made our educational programmes come alive. Fr. Crispino D’Souza played a major role in supporting the expansion of the DBIS educational tradition, building up the infrastructure for sports, and constructing the state-of-the-art 3rd floor for grades XI and XII. We now begin our decennial celebration with the introduction of the nursery programme. Alongside the structural expansion, the hard work and outstanding performance of our students in the fields of academics, culture, sports, and community outreach, is also to a great extent, a testimony to the dedication and commitment of the entire DBIS team – the leadership, teachers, administrative, and ancillary staff; and the support of the parent body. I am grateful to each one for helping DBIS grow into an esteemed educational institution today. We pray that as we progressively consolidate as well as expand our educational legacy in the footsteps of Don Bosco, our patron, we may continue to grow into knowledgeable, innovative, and compassionate global citizens who strive to create a better world for our present and future generations. May this be our gift to DBIS and the world this decennial anniversary.

“One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world.” – Malala Yousafzai Dear Parents, At DBIS, we believe that the attitudes we embrace shape our lives. With this in mind, we encourage our students to Think, Act, and Be their best selves. Our commitment to nurturing the minds and bodies of our students is deeply ingrained in the pedagogy followed by the Don Bosco group of institutions for decades. We believe in allowing children to grow naturally, guided gently by teachers and peers. We foster a curious mindset that explores the world of academics and experiential learning through sports. We recognize that we live in a constantly evolving environment, where humanity remains a constant and reality is a matter of perception. Therefore, we empower our students with resilient minds, teaching them to think critically before taking action to meet their own needs and contribute to society. Our philosophy instils in young children the values of independence, integrity, reliability, and diligence. Creating a warm and joyful atmosphere is crucial in cultivating the emotional quotient that ignites a child’s curiosity to seek knowledge beyond boundaries. The environment at DBIS promotes a sense of well-being and accessibility. Through our programs in humanities and our focus on environmental sustainability, we teach children to see things from different perspectives and not just merely observe. Additionally, our global outreach initiatives and the presence of an in-house counsellor provide our senior students attending AS, A, and DP programs with opportunities for further education in institutions worldwide. As we celebrate our tenth anniversary, we reflect on the incredible journey we have undertaken together. We have witnessed our students transform from curious young learners to confident individuals ready to embrace the challenges of the future. It is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our students, teachers, and parents. This year, we aim to make our anniversary celebrations truly remarkable. We have planned a series of events and activities throughout the year, designed to engage and inspire our students. We invite you to join us in creating an unforgettable experience for our students. We believe that your involvement and contributions will add an extra layer of excitement and joy to our festivities. We deeply appreciate the trust you have placed in us as your child’s educational institution, and we strive to meet your expectations with utmost dedication. With the love and guidance of our teachers, while gently holding your child’s hand, we navigate the academic world fuelled by curiosity. This academic year, let us embark on a journey together with renewed enthusiasm, eager to witness the growth and success of our students.
