As a Principal of the school I am honoured and privileged to be part of the Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School (Kannada-Medium), Pune – 4. We have 91 girls and 75 boys studying in our KHSK School. Here every day is an opportunity to learn and discover, everyone learns including our teachers, parents and staff. We foster Love and Logic to promote a positive learning environment for all our students. COVID-19 has provided a very challenging period to our students and teachers. Online teaching was not heard of previously, it also reduced the routine school time. I am proud that our Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School – Kannada Medium Pune staff was totally involved in getting the children adjusted to this new technique, attending the classes regularly. Our Management was very helpful in providing Tabs to our KHS Kannada Medium children whose parents faced a lot of difficulties as there was no means of earning for them. It was a herculean task to contact our children who had moved to their native town for bread and shelter. For us CORONA means – care for each other, opportunity to know our strength, relax, organize thought and life, navigate towards your target and accomplish success. As pioneers in e-learning we had to find our ways to communicate with our students and new methods to interact online. It was really difficult for our children who were couped up indoors all day, had no chance to socialize and were slumped in front of the mobile, Tabs. I must thank our Alumni who have helped us in this process with their support and commitment. During the pandemic another huge contribution to our children was ‘Lila Poonawala Foundation’ who have been of great help. Without the helping hands of all it was not possible to ride safely through this most difficult and testing period. Without worrying about the academic loss incurred we move ahead with new strategies to overcome the learning loss and to make sure that children gradually return to regular routine of learning. We are making sure that our children start afresh and develop a love for learning again. Let’s work hard to move with renewed energy and strength to meet new challenges.
