In 2024, 146 Indian students, including 75 women and 71 men, were awarded Erasmus Mundus scholarships for a two-year Masters's program in Europe, reaffirming India's status as a major recipient of these scholarships. Globally, 2603 students from 137 countries received the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's degree, offered by international higher education consortia. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the program, highlighting its substantial impact on students and institutions worldwide. Since its inception in 2004, over 2000 Indian students have benefited from Erasmus Mundus scholarships, totaling more than 6000 Erasmus+ scholarships awarded to Indian students. The program provides opportunities for advanced education, research collaboration, and professional networking across diverse fields such as sustainability, engineering, and social sciences. Fully funded, the scholarships cover tuition fees, travel expenses, and living allowances. The Delegation of the European Union to India hosted an event to celebrate the recipients, fostering cultural exchange and enhancing people-to-people ties between the EU and India. These scholars will commence their studies in September at multiple universities across Europe, contributing to global academic mobility and cooperation.
