The Learning by Doing (LBD) program in Uttar Pradesh integrates vocational training with traditional education for students aged 11-14, aiming to make education enjoyable and reduce dropouts. The successful pilot program has led the state government to expand it to 1772 schools across 75 districts. Implemented in collaboration with UNICEF and Vigyan Ashram Pune, the program includes setting up 60 technology centers in 15 districts. Students will receive training in four trades per year, with each trade lasting two months. The initiative targets out-of-school children engaged in potential child labor, connecting them to mainstream education and enhancing basic and technical skills. The LBD modules are integrated into the school curriculum in various districts, providing a holistic learning experience.
