The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released guidelines for private residential schools interested in participating in the Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA) for the academic year 2023-24. The scheme, managed by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, supports meritorious Scheduled Caste students. Schools must be affiliated with CBSE, in operation for at least 5 years, and meet specific infrastructure criteria. Students are selected through the National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA (NETS), and selected schools must display admission details on their websites. The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment handles school selection, and once consent is given, schools cannot refuse allotted students. For further issues, schools can contact the department directly.
