The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued guidelines for Internship/Research Internship aimed at undergraduate students to enhance their employability skills. These guidelines, available on the UGC website, emphasize the importance of practical learning experiences outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP). HEIs are directed to implement these guidelines effectively, with a focus on creating structured internship programs through their Research and Development (R&D) Cells. HEIs are tasked with arranging internships for students through a structured mechanism under their Research and Development (R&D) Cell. The R&D Cell is expected to appoint a coordinator and establish a well-defined mechanism for the smooth coordination and functioning of internships across different disciplines.
