The Delhi University has formed a panel to address concerns about alleged teacher absenteeism. The university issued an official circular announcing the formation of the committee tasked with developing a mechanism to ensure classes are conducted regularly. The committee comprises principals from several colleges affiliated with Delhi University and is expected to submit its report within 30 days. However, Maya John, a member of the Academic Council at the University, criticized the move, calling it a "notorious and farcical exercise" by the administration. She argued that the administration's policies, such as increasing teacher-student ratios and reducing lecture hours, have adversely impacted classroom teaching. John also highlighted that teachers are often pressured to attend non-academic events, affecting their ability to conduct classes effectively.
