The National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) has extended its application deadline to February 9, 2024. This scholarship program targets economically disadvantaged but academically meritorious students who are at risk of dropping out after Class 8. It provides an annual scholarship of Rs 12,000 to one lakh selected students in Class 9, with the opportunity for renewal as they progress through classes 10 to 12 in government and government-aided schools. Administered through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), the scheme ensures direct disbursement of scholarships to students' bank accounts via electronic transfer. Eligibility criteria include a maximum annual parental income of Rs 3,50,000 and a minimum of 55% marks in Class VII exams, with relaxation for SC/ST students. The verification process involves two levels: Institute Nodal Officer (INO) level and District Nodal Officer (DNO) level, with deadlines for verification set on February 15 (L1) and February 26 (L2). This initiative aims to support deserving students in continuing their education and achieving their academic goals.
