The Ministry of Education has launched APAAR (Academic Performance Assessment and Accreditation of Research) as part of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). APAAR requires college and university students to register on the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), a digital platform storing academic records and personal data. This initiative aims to ease admissions and facilitate credit transfers by providing a centralized database accessible through unique ABC IDs. Sanjay Kumar highlighted the role of digital services in education, while K Sanjay Murthy noted that ABC is inspired by the National Academic Depository (NAD). Anil Sahasrabudhe mentioned that APAAR IDs will accompany students throughout their lives, simplifying future credit acquisition without the need for physical certificates.
