The Madhya Pradesh government has given nod to the establishment of three universities in the name of national heroes. Three state colleges have received the government’s approval for upgradation to universities.  “The state government gives in-principle approval for the upgradation of the government colleges to the universities against their names as follows,” said an official order from the higher education department of Madhya Pradesh. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Arts and Commerce Government College, Sagar; Government Post Graduate College, Khargone; and Government Post Graduate College, Guna have received the approval to be upgraded as Rani Avantibai LodhiUniversity, Krantisurya Tantaya BheelUniversity, and Tatya Tope University respectively.  The higher education department also shared the status of the three colleges according to which the first college will be a constituent unit of the university and will continue to exist whereas the other two colleges will be merged into the universities. The three new universities will start functioning from 2024-25 session. A separate notification will be released for the establishment of the universities, approval of posts, and financial activities.  As a result of the upgradation of the colleges, the assets, records, and responsibilities of the colleges as well as the students admitted from the 2024-25 session will come under the universities, MP government further informed.
